What is your favorite quote or mantra?
My favorite quote is:
"I have found that among its other benefits, giving liberates the soul of the giver." - Maya Angelou

My favorite mantra is:
Accept what is, let go of what was, and have faith in what will be.

What are some must-read books that have inspired/changed you? Why?
I have read a number of books in my life that have inspired me, moved me, and touched my heart to the depth of my soul. I have an adoration for literature where a character has the ability to overcome adversity. Khaled Hosseini who I believe is a phenomenal storyteller clearly depicts this in his book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, which is one of my favorites - he amazingly illustrates the inner struggle of two women, their fight to overcome adversity and how both of them empower each other and evolve together in a world of chaos. It is one of the few books that has touched every emotion in me - body, mind and intellect.
Who/what inspires you? Why?

Inspiration cannot be drawn from just one thing but everything and everyone. My parents inspire me to be open and understanding of the world. My siblings inspire me to always be "me" and my close friends have inspired me to accept "me." The universe inspires me to be the best human-being I can be.

What are some of your advice/tips for being a Compassionate Citizen?
One of the greatest types of devotion is loving the people around us and the one noblest characteristics traits to possess is compassion for everything and everyone. We as human beings must teach ourselves to always speak softly- use words of kindness, non-judgement, and affection. Learn to be giving but when you do, give with pure a heart and mind...

What are you currently working on?
I would like to see Color Me SAFE progress from a startup firm to a midlevel organization, expand our services and network. Currently developing my personal blog, WheatishComplexion.com into a t-shirt brand. Turning other passions into actions and allowing some room for life to happen. I believe opportunities, blessings, and people come into our lives if we allow to keep the door open, and welcome it with an optimistic view.
